Greenwich Businessman and Entrepreneur
Mark Mariani employs a unique and dynamic approach to his landscape design. The foundations of his creativity are the ways he feels so natural and comfortable when in the woods or on top of the earth and moving machines. The treetops were where he spent his time in childhood, and from that viewpoint he memorized the things that would become the roots for replicating nature’s rhythm, interconnectedness, and beauty in his future designs.
At the young age of 9, Mark Mariani taught himself to drive a car so that he could use his job of locking up the neighborhood cemetery gates. Other jobs of his included snow shoveling, planting and maintaining gardens, and teaching himself to drive a bulldozer. These jobs in nature would eternally tie Mark to the earth in a manner that was both natural and inspiring. Mark made note of nature’s seasonal changes, from its contours to its varying textures. At 21 years old, he founded his own landscape and home design firm called Mark Mariani, Inc. Mr. Mariani’s gardens, which span over 40 years, like many of his customers, find their roots within Mark’s innate connection to the natural world. They define an award winning career that are continually emulated in places such as Greenwich, the Hamptons, and surrounding Connecticut and New York areas.
